Plugins for end-users

Introduction

Plugins add new functionality to October. This can be anything (e.g. invoicing, customer relations, learning management, etc.). Plugins can also overrule any aspect of October or any other plugin. Some plugins allow you to configure all sort of things without writing a single line of code but to truely appreciate the full capabilities of October you should extend the existing dunctionality offered by October and other plugins with your own modifications. The most flexible way to do this is to write your own plugin. Please see https://octobercms.com/docs/plugin/extending for more information.

Installing plugins

Plugins for October can be installed in 4 ways:

  1. By downloading a plugin from your installation of October Settings -> Updates & Plugins (download and update free plugins only).
  2. By creating an account on https://octobercms.com and adding plugins to a project. You can then attach the secret Project ID to your installation of October. (download and update a collection of free and paid plugins).
  3. By creating a plugin yourself. You can use the Builder plugin for this.Update
  4. By uploading a plugin to the /plugins folder of your installation of October and logging out and back in to install the plugin.
